"The Mustang convertible is a thoroughly capable machine, able to deliver high levels of performance and comfort in equal measure."- Edmunds.com

The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible comes with no major changes in comparison to the outgoing 2020 Mustang Convertible. Available for a base MSRP of $32,655, the 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible retains the same two trim configurations and the coveted 2.3L turbocharged EcoBoost inline-4 motor putting out 310 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. This motor comes mated to a 6-speed manual or an optional 10-speed automatic transmission and the power is put down through the RWD drivetrain layout. The interior and exterior of the 2021 Mustang Convertible also retain all the features like leather upholstery, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, heated and powered side mirrors, and LED headlights too.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible is also an excellent proposition if you are looking to lease out your ride since this convertible moniker can be had for as low as $441 for a 39-month term with an initial down payment of $3,385 for the base EcoBoost Convertible trim. If you fancy the more feature-packed EcoBoost Premium Convertible trim, Ford offers it for a monthly lease price of $504 for the same 39-month term. The same trim can also be financed for a monthly $544 for an 84-month term with the same downpayment. This is for an APR of 7.9%. With excellent reliability as noted by the JD Power report, the outgoing 2020 Ford Mustang Convertible manages to come out with a 5-year cost of ownership of just $59,160 and a miles per dollar ratio of 8.33.

2021 Ford Mustang Convertible Buying Advice

The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible comes with the same two trim configurations as the outgoing 2020 Mustang Convertible. Of these two trims, we would recommend you to go for the more expensive EcoBoost Premium trim, which is offered for sale at a base selling price of $37,675, since it is the most value for money trim of the lot, due to the excellent list of standard interior and exterior features. The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible EcoBoost Premium comes with heated and powered side mirrors, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 9-speaker audio system, MyColor ambient lighting, and many more as standard. "Don't be fooled by its cylinder count—the standard turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder has enough punch to embarrass V-8 Mustangs of old."- Caranddriver.com

The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible, which is available for a base selling price of $32,655, retains the same 2.3L EcoBoost turbocharged inline-4 motor putting out 310 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. This motor comes mated to 6-speed manual transmission with the rev-matching feature as standard. However, there is also an optional 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission for an additional MSRP of $1,595. The power is put down only through the RWD drivetrain layout and no AWD is offered even as an option.

2021 Ford Mustang convertible retains the 2.3L Ecoboost turbocharged inline-4 motor

Due to the presence of a stiff chassis and the independent rear suspension setup, the 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible turned out to be an excellent choice for both curvy roads as well as highways. This American muscle convertible offered great driving dynamics due to an adequately stiff suspension setup that helps the car to go around corners with decent confidence along with providing impressive high-speed stability. The slow city travel was also comfortable, absorbing even the sharpest of potholes. The steering offered a decent feel and feedback too. In comparison to the 2021 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, which gets the 5L V8 motor, we found that the EcoBoost motor was pretty impressive, both in terms of performance as well as ride and handling.

2021 Ford Mustang Convertible manages to do 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds

The 2.3L turbocharged EcoBoost inline-4 motor of the 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible helps the car to propel from 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds and a quarter-mile in 14.1 seconds. The car can also do a top speed of 155 mph when going flat out. With decently large 12.6" front and rear rotors on offer, the 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible did the 60-0 mph braking test in 107 feet. In comparison, the more powerful and expensive 2021 Ford Mustang GT Convertible came out with a better 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 12.2 seconds.

The performance on offer from the 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible turned out to be the best of the lot, with class-leading hp and torque ratings. However, the 2021 BMW 2 Series Convertible turned out to be the fastest of the lot with a 0-60 mph time of 5.3 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 13.9 seconds, even with a much lower 248 hp motor. The 2021 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible comes second with a 0-60 mph time of 5.4 seconds. However, the 2021 Mazda MX-5 Miata is the slowest, with a 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds. 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible Fuel Economy

"Our test Mustang Convertible averaged 23.5 mpg on our mixed-driving evaluation route, which indicates that you should be able to get the EPA numbers fairly easily"- Edmunds.com

The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible retains the same gas mileage as the outgoing 2020 Mustang Convertible, which is 20 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway, both of which equates to combined gas mileage of 23 MPG. Coming with the turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost inline-4 motor, the 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible gets multiple drive modes which help the car to extract more miles per gallon. However, we would recommend you to opt for the 10-speed automatic transmission, since it gives out 21 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway.

2021 Ford Mustang Convertible offers a combined gas mileage of 23 MPG

The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible also gets a decently large 16-gallon fuel tank capacity, and this helps the car to attain a city range of 320 miles and a highway range of 448 miles. A combined range of 368 miles is quite decent for the segment too. However, the 2021 Mustang Convertible with the optional 10-speed automatic transmission would churn out even better range figures due to the better gas mileage on offer. The more powerful 2021 Ford Mustang GT Convertible offers a much lower 18 MPG of combined gas mileage, which contributes to a subpar tank range as well.

"The Mustang Convertible's cabin is spacious for two, with plenty of shoulder room, head- and legroom and a wide center console armrest."- Edmunds.com

The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible is a 4-seater convertible. The front seats of the 2021 Mustang Convertible remain quite spacious with a best-in-class shoulder room of 56.3" and legroom of 44.5". However, the headroom was a tad bit lower than some of the rivals of the segment. Coming in for sale at a base selling price of $34,245, the 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible comes with cloth bucket seats for the base trim. However, the EcoBoost Premium trim comes with ebony/ceramic/tan colored leather upholstery. A showstopper red and midnight blue with grabber blue stitched upholstery is available for this trim as well as a 6-way powered driver's seat. We also loved the excellent ergonomics of the cabin, with a chunky steering wheel and spacious pedal placement, all of which contribute to the impressive driving experience.

2021 Ford Mustang Convertible comes with three interior color combinations

The rear seat is where the 2021 Ford  Mustang Convertible turns out to be quite mediocre in comparison to the rivals, mainly due to the subpar shoulder room and legroom, both of which make it quite claustrophobic. However, the cargo capacity of 11.4 cu ft offered by the 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible turned out to be one of the best in the segment. Apart from that, the 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible also offers a host of optional features like leather-trimmed Alcantara upholstery, linked graphite aluminum instrument panel, 12" digital instrument cluster with MyColor, heated steering wheel, memory seats, etc too. The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible turned out to be mediocre in terms of interior space on offer. Though it was slightly better than the rivals in the front seat space, the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible offered a better headroom of 38.4". The rear seat space was also quite terrible, even though both the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible and the 2021 2-Series Convertible offered a similarly poor space. However, the 2021 Mazda MX-5 doesn't get the rear row. The 2021 2-Series Convertible came out on top with the best in class 11.8 cu ft of storage. In terms of infotainment on offer, the 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible comes with the 8" Sync 3 touchscreen infotainment system. A 9-speaker audio system is on offer too. However, the base EcoBoost trim only gets a 4.2" display along with a 6-speaker audio system as standard.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible's 8" Sync3 touchscreen infotainment system gets all the connectivity features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio support, Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity, and Bluetooth. The user interface of this infotainment is also quite decent along with excellent touch sensitivity and impeccable viewing angles. However, the 4.2" infotainment that comes as standard with the base EcoBoost trim misses out on all of these features. The 2021 Ford Mustang Convertible retains the same design language as the outgoing 2020 Mustang Convertible. The 2021 Mustang Convertible is quite menacing to look at from the front view, due to the incorporation of LED headlights with neatly integrated LED DRLs, lip spoiler, air intake vents on the hood, and masculine bumpers with a large air dam. The iconic American car!

Pros - Retro styling. Strong base engine. Line-lock mode.

Cons - Heavy steering. Cramped backseat.

Great value purchase! Owning a Mustang has always been a dream come to true for me. The EcoBoost base engine has been great to drive. The price on this seems rightly justified. I do get a lot of attention for driving the Pony car. Besides the features and daily driveability has made it a practical car for me. It has just turned out to be an iconic car to own for a great value! It was the easiest and most memorable car buy experience I had. They arranged for everything to be super hassle-free right until the delivery. Kudos to the team!

The deceiver.

Pros - Trademark looks,heritage,Cabin room,manual transmission

Cons - Subdued performance, puny exhaust note

A remarkable experience from Ford. Great styling on my 2020 Mustang convertible with the up an over racing stripe. The ecoboost engine is zippy with the 4 cylinder turbo. This car was roomy, had many options included, rode smoothly, came in many colors and had lots of options to choose from. I was very pleased. looks great in black, amazing performance, wife likes it, amazing performance, remarkable transmission, goes really fast, out of adjectives, love the car. The easiest transactions I've ever made. I felt that the price on my new vehicle was good. I had not made any decision to buy from them but after seeing their inventory, i am impressive and went on

The muscle everyone needs!

Pros - Speed, forward collision sensor, design

Cons - Fuel efficiency, reliability

The fun everyone needs to have at least once in their life. Buy a MUSTANG and unleash the child in you! Hit the gas and leave behind all the worries like smoke and dust! Power lumbar support driver seat. Infotainment is also pretty decent. The interior is spacious and comfortable, I know unheard in Mustang but it is true. The speakers are good and have good bass to them. I really enjoy my drive! The best looking car in the world!! Nothing comes even close to Mustang when it comes to looks. Forward collision sensor is the best safety feature ever. It detects if something is upfront or not and if there is something it alerts me. Mustang is not really famous for reliability and I know that. So far it has been working well for me though! Worth every penny!! Very happy with the experience I had at Hagerstown Ford!

Toggle the switch and disappear

The first time I took it to the route 26 twisties, I was wishing the road to never end. It sort of commits to the corners and hairpins even if the driver doesn't and right before you know it, you are up for the another bend. Not just this, acceleration in between is also encouraging and results in one of those positive responses and you know its asking for more probably.
